Posted by pedro&bruno on 08:06:2001 04:40 PM: i dont think so,dj does not have the necessary reach to beat guiles turtle techniques Posted by kalok on 08:07:2001 02:38 AM: dun u forget dj is great turtle too? Posted by ghouki on 08:07:2001 03:58 AM: Well, I'll tell you this. I got my ass handed to me by Geoff Arnold (from T&T) in the opening pools of ST, and I was using Guile. but, I'm really not that great in the game though. In terms of true turtling, DJ is the lowest of the FB people (w/Guile, Ryu, Sagat, and Dhalsim -- not necessarily in that order) distinctly ahead of him. His release and animation of his fb (whatever it's called) is too slow. He is very susceptible to throwing, and is very vulnerable after his slide. Guile has better reach and faster recovery, which far outshines DJ's turtling. DJ has to attack. He can turtle against some characters, but not against Guile, Dhali, Ryu, or Sagat. What's great about DJ is that a ton of his moves link into other moves. In terms of just linking moves (blocked or not) DJ is probably the best, up there w/Guile and Ryu. DJ also has the counter-moved against Guile: c.strong to hit limbs, linked into his spinning kick. c.fwd (I think) stops a lot of Guile's normals (maybe not s.rh, fr. or f+s.fr). However, I've heard that Guile can still get around those, so I can't say for certain. DJ use to be #1 in JPN in the late 90's. Dale Posted by kalok on 08:08:2001 08:51 AM: who got the higher tier rank, guile or dj??? Posted by nex2me on 08:09:2001 01:18 PM: I have been playing ST as long as any one else. I still play today and prefer it over alot of the newer games. I am Ryu die hard, followed by Sim and DJ. If it is just a stright DJ vs Guile match, IMO DJ edges Guile out. He has everything Guile does and more. His carnival kick maybe a tad less effective than a flash kick. But going in his favor is you have the slide which is a hell good. His machine gun hands, when timed correctly can be good as well. His jumping Kicks all have there priorities. Especially the jumping RH cuz it zones pretty well. The forward kick does grest on cross-up. The jumping QK, pressing down give you that knee that stop a good portion of moves. DJ has alot going for him aginst other charecters. His FB cannot be passed by Ryu, Ken, Akuma. Guile can whic just makes him open to some major rush down after he gets cought. I think Guile has a much better chance against Bison. But like what was previously stated, DJ has more to combo with. 1) The carnival kick into the super, 2)cross over kick, crouching jab standing strong FB or swing kick. 3)***much harder*** cross over kick, crouching jab, machine gun uppercut (note: timming on MGU is key to getting full combo) Posted by kalok on 08:09:2001 01:37 PM: so u think dj and guile are top tier?
